On October 11, the launch trip of terahertz technology hosted by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) Press and the launch of the “Classic Theory of Electronics and Frontier Science and Technology Series” were held at the main venue of the 6th Tianfu Book Fair.
The book series was selected for the “14th Five-Year Plan” National Key Publication Publication Planning Project. It is a project funded by the National Publishing Fund in 2022 and a project funded by the Sichuan Provincial Key Publication Special Fund. It is also a boutique academic work focused on by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) Press. This series of books is an important academic work created by the team led by academician Shenggang Liu and professor Min Hu. It brings together the classic theory of electronics and the cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements of terahertz technology. The series includes three books, “Microwave Electronics”, “Relativistic Electronics” and “Terahertz Electronics”, which not only showcase the profound achievements and outstanding contributions of academician Shenggang Liu and his team in the field of electronics, but also provide guidance and reference for researchers and scholars in related fields at home and abroad.
Tian Jiang, president and editor-in-chief of the publishing house, said in his speech that the publication of this series is not only a tribute and inheritance to the classic literature of electronics, but also a vivid practice of courageous exploration and discovery in the frontier of science and technology. It closely matches the grand blueprint of the country’s scientific and technological development, accurately matches the hot topics at the forefront of international science and the urgent call of social progress, and sketches and displays the bright picture of the contemporary electronics field from a strategic height. The publication and dissemination of the series will have a positive impact on China’s national defense strength, scientific and technological innovation capabilities, and sustainable economic and social development.

The representative of the project author team, Professor Min Hu of the School of Electronic Science and Engineering, gave a popular science lecture on “terahertz science and technology”, focusing on terahertz non-destructive testing and safety testing, terahertz communication technology, terahertz technology to help black hole observation and visual interface telescope research, terahertz technology innovation medical observation, etc., which comprehensively demonstrated the diverse application prospects of terahertz technology. Min Hu said that the terahertz technology is revolutionizing the field of cultural relic identification and has been used for the first time in the tomographic analysis of Sanxingdui bronzes, realizing a “cross-temporal dialogue” with ancient artisans. The atmosphere of the lecture was lively, and the audience actively asked questions and had in-depth interactions with Min Hu.

At the end of the event, the unveiling ceremony of the new book “Classic Theory of Electronics and Frontier Science and Technology Series” was held.
